Cookie & Local Storage Policy

Last updated: March 25, 2026

1. Overview

Buddy uses a very limited set of browser storage features to keep the web experience working. We use essential local storage for session continuity and reconnect flows. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or analytics pixels.

2. What we store

Our frontend currently relies on local storage for session continuity and reconnect flows.

  • buddy_token: a session token used to keep you signed in to your Buddy dashboard
  • buddy_id: the identifier for your Buddy instance so the dashboard can reopen the right workspace
  • buddy_email: a convenience value used during reconnect and onboarding flows

3. Why we use it

  • To keep you signed in after opening your magic link
  • To reopen your existing Buddy dashboard without making you reconnect every time
  • To streamline onboarding and reconnect flows on the same device
  • To support essential account continuity features rather than advertising or profiling

4. What we do not use

  • No third-party advertising cookies
  • No social media tracking pixels
  • No cross-site behavioral profiling
  • No data broker integrations
  • No browser storage used to sell data or build ad audiences

5. How to clear this data

You can clear Buddy's stored browser data at any time by using your browser's site data controls or by signing out from the dashboard. Clearing local storage will log you out and remove the quick reconnect convenience on that device.

6. Changes

If we add cookies, analytics, or other browser storage mechanisms in the future, we will update this page and the Privacy Policy to reflect those changes before or when those features go live.
